Muse not working? Fixes for the most common problems
Most Muse problems aren’t bugs: a site is blocking it, it’s waiting for your approval, you’ve hit the weekly limit, or the app is just slow to load. We’ve run into most of these ourselves. Here’s how to tell which one you have.
Quick answer
First, look at the status line under Muse’s avatar. “Connecting…” usually means it’s starting up; give it a minute or two and don’t resend. “Waiting for you” means it needs your approval or wants you to take over. If a specific site fails, the site may be blocking AI agents (Amazon does). Tasks stop when you reach your weekly limit. And if Muse says it “isn’t available in your country or region,” it hasn’t launched there yet. Everything else: reload, then use Menu → Report an issue.
How we checked
TestedMost problems on this page are ones we hit while testing Muse on our own account (muse.ai web app, September 30 to October 5, 2026). Fixes for browser control come from Meta’s Help Center. See how we label evidence.
Find your problem
| What you see | Usually means | Do this |
|---|---|---|
| “Still sending” / “Connecting…” | Muse is starting its cloud computer | Wait 1–2 minutes; don’t resend |
| “Waiting for you” | An approval or a step only you can do | Open the chat and respond, or open the browser view |
| Muse says a site blocked it or won’t load | The site blocks agents | Do that step yourself or use another site |
| Tabs stuck on grey loading placeholders | Slow loading | Wait, then reload once; ask Muse in chat instead |
| Tasks stop; “% used” near 100 | Weekly limit reached | Wait for the reset date or upgrade |
| “Muse isn’t available in your country or region yet” | Not launched where you are | Nothing to fix; US and Canada only |
| Can’t reply in a WhatsApp chat on muse.ai | WhatsApp channel is view-only on the web | Reply in WhatsApp |
| Results look wrong | Muse made a mistake | Ask for sources; check important details |
Stuck on “Connecting…” or “Still sending”
TestedOn October 3, 2026, our first task of the day showed “Still sending” under the message, and the status under Muse’s avatar said “Connecting…”, for about a minute. Then it switched to “Checking hours” and finished normally, about 2½ minutes after we sent it. Later tasks in the same session started within seconds.
- Wait a minute or two before doing anything. Resending can give Muse the same job twice.
- Check your connection if it never changes, then reload the page or app.
- If it’s still stuck after a few minutes, ask “Are you working on my last request?” in a new message, or report it (below).
Muse is “waiting for you”
TestedMuse pauses whenever it needs you. When we asked it to send an email, it stopped with an approval prompt (Allow / Always allow for this recipient / Deny); see it here. When we asked it to shop on Amazon, its browser step read “Waiting for you · Waiting on Amazon…” while it asked us how to proceed.
For browser tasks you can tap Open browser in the chat to watch, Take control of the browser to pause Muse and do a step yourself, or Stop the task.1 Meta also says you can ask Muse in chat to undo or stop some actions.5 TestedIn our Amazon test on the web app, clicking the browser step didn’t open a view, so answering in chat was the only option there.
A website blocks Muse
- TestedAmazon blocks Muse. In our test Muse reported that Amazon had blocked its automated browsing. Details and alternatives.
- Other sites may block agents too, show bot checks, or require logins Muse doesn’t have.
- Muse won’t break through. Its terms forbid using it to “violate, bypass or circumvent” another service’s terms, security or access controls, and they name paywalls and CAPTCHAs as examples.3 In our Amazon test, Muse itself said it wouldn’t solve a bot check.
Fix: do that step yourself, or ask Muse to use a different site or a connected app that offers the same thing.
Goals, Feed or Ideas won’t load
TestedOn October 5, 2026, our Goals tab took about 25 seconds to load once, then twice stayed on grey loading placeholders for more than 40 seconds. The chat kept working the whole time. Workaround: ask Muse in chat (“What goals do I have?”, “Delete the X goal”); it can do the same things. More about these tabs: Goals, Feed and Ideas.
Tasks stop: you’ve hit the weekly limit
TestedMuse runs on a weekly allowance, shown as “% used” in Settings → General → Usage with a fixed reset date. Meta says that at the limit you can wait for it to refresh or upgrade.4 Long research and background goals use the most. How the limit works.
“Muse isn’t available in your country or region yet”
This isn’t a fault. Muse is only offered in the US and Canada, for adults with a Meta account, and Meta hasn’t announced other countries. The same screen offers a Join waitlist button. A VPN doesn’t change where you’re located. The Muse waitlist · availability by country.
“Muse isn’t available to all audiences”
People search for this message, but Meta hasn’t documented what triggers it, and we haven’t seen it ourselves. What we know: Muse is only for adults 18 or older (or the age of majority where you live), with a Meta account, located in the US or Canada. If you see this message, check those first. If they all apply, contact Muse support. Seen it? Tell us where and when.
Other common snags
- “Something went wrong”: Meta hasn’t documented this message. Try again in a minute, refresh muse.ai or restart the app, and check you haven’t hit your weekly limit. If it keeps happening on one task, start a new chat. If it’s everywhere, it may be a wider outage; report it.
- TestedCan’t reply to WhatsApp chats on muse.ai: they’re “view only” on the web. Continue in WhatsApp. Muse in WhatsApp.
- TestedNo Windows app: Meta offers Mac, iPhone and Android apps; on Windows, use muse.ai in a browser. Details.
- A connected app stopped working: check it’s still listed as connected in Settings → Connectors, and reconnect it if not. (We haven’t had to do this ourselves.)
- TestedWrong or odd details in results: in one of our tests Muse listed a coffee shop opening at 4:30 AM. Ask for sources and double-check anything that matters. Meta warns Muse “can make mistakes or take unexpected actions.”5

Frequently asked questions
Is Muse down right now?
Meta doesn’t publish a Muse status page that we could find. Check whether muse.ai loads, try the app or WhatsApp, and give it time: in our tests the web app sometimes took up to 40 seconds to load. If it still fails, use Report an issue (Menu → Settings → Help & support). All support routes.
Why is Muse stuck on "Connecting…"?
Usually it’s starting up its cloud computer. In our test a message showed “Still sending” and Muse showed “Connecting…” for about a minute, then the task ran normally. Don’t resend; wait a minute or two first.
Why isn’t Muse doing anything?
Check whether it’s waiting for you. When Muse needs approval, or a site needs you to take over, its status says so (we saw “Waiting for you”), and nothing happens until you respond.
Why can’t Muse open some websites?
