How to use Meta’s Muse Image (and what about Muse Video?)

Muse Image is Meta’s image generator, and it lives in Meta AI, not in the Muse agent app. Here’s where to find it, how to create and edit images, how Meta marks them as AI, and where Muse Video stands.

Quick answer

Muse Image is Meta’s AI image generator, launched July 7, 2026. Use it free in the Meta AI app or meta.ai, in Instagram Stories (US) and in WhatsApp in some countries: describe what you want in plain language, pick a suggested preset, or edit by circling or sketching on the image. Images carry Meta’s invisible “Content Seal” watermark. Muse Video was previewed alongside it but is still “coming soon.” The feature that used other people’s Instagram photos was removed on July 10.

The Instagram photo controversy

Per MetaAt launch, people could @-mention public Instagram accounts to use their photos as references. After a backlash, Meta removed that on July 10, 2026, saying it “missed the mark.”2 What it means for your photos.

Muse Video: status

Per MetaMeta previewed Muse Video on July 7, 2026: text-to-video “with native audio support,” built on the same base as Muse Image, and “coming soon to creators and Meta AI.” Meta itself lists gaps in “audio-video synchronization and physically accurate fast motion.”1 We found no launch as of October 8; we’ll update this page when it ships.
