Did Meta cancel Muse? No, but here’s what was pulled
Searches for “Did Meta cancel Muse?” spiked after a string of headlines. The Muse agent is very much live. What Meta and others did pull back were specific features and access, and they’re easy to confuse.
Quick answer
No. Meta hasn’t cancelled Muse. The personal AI agent launched on September 8, 2026, is available in the US and Canada, and Meta added new features as recently as September 29. The confusion comes from things that were pulled: in July, Meta removed one Muse Image feature (generating pictures by tagging public Instagram accounts); in September, Amazon blocked Muse from shopping on its site; and Meta rolled back a test using human contractors for some Muse phone calls.

What was actually pulled
| When | What happened | Muse affected? |
|---|---|---|
| July 2026 | ReportedDays after launching Muse Image, its image model, Meta removed the feature that let people generate images by @-mentioning public Instagram accounts. Meta said “this feature missed the mark, so it’s no longer available.” Other Muse Image features stayed.3 What this means for opting out. | No. Muse Image is a separate model, not the Muse agent. |
| Sept 20, 2026 | ReportedAmazon blocked Muse from shopping on Amazon.com, citing its Conditions of Use.6 | Partly. Muse can’t shop on Amazon; everything else works. Details. |
| Sept 22, 2026 | ReportedReuters reported Meta had tested having contractors place some of the phone calls users asked Muse to make; a Meta vice president called it “a miss” and said the feature was rolled back.7 | A test feature only. |
Other “Muse” things that get mixed up
“Muse” is a crowded name, which adds to the confusion. Muse Image and Muse Spark are Meta AI models, separate from the Muse agent app; see Muse Spark explained. Microsoft also has an unrelated gaming AI model called Muse, and Muse is the name of a well-known rock band. News about any of them can surface in the same searches.
