Muse explained

Meta Muse statistics: downloads, users and rankings

Meta hasn’t published official user numbers for Muse. Here is every usage figure we could source: third-party download and user estimates, App Store rankings, Muse’s rating, and analysts’ revenue forecasts, each with who said it and when.

Quick answer

Meta hasn’t published official Muse user numbers, but every estimate points the same way: fast growth. Sensor Tower put Muse past 5 million US downloads in 22 days. Citi estimated more than 6.6 million downloads and 1.8 million daily active users by early October. On October 8, 2026, Muse was the No. 1 free iPhone app in the US and Canada, rated 4.9 out of 5 from more than 177,000 ratings. How many people keep using it is still unknown.

How we checked

TestedWe read Apple’s public top-chart feed and Muse’s App Store listing data on October 8, 2026. All other numbers are third-party estimates or reports, labeled by source. Estimates from different firms don’t match, and none comes from Meta’s own data except where noted. See how we label evidence.

How Muse compares with ChatGPT’s launch

ReportedSensor Tower said Muse reached 5 million downloads faster than ChatGPT (56 days), Grok (103 days) and Claude (492 days).5 Apptopia estimated 1.8 million iOS downloads in the US and Canada in Muse’s first 12 days, against 1.3 million for ChatGPT.3 The comparison isn’t like-for-like. Muse launched on iPhone and Android at once, in the US and then Canada, with heavy promotion inside Meta’s apps. ChatGPT’s app started on iPhone only. Sensor Tower data showed Meta gave Muse as much as 50% of its daily in-house ad space.5 For what each app actually does, see Muse vs ChatGPT.

Is Muse growth slowing?

ReportedSomewhat. Hunterbrook Media, using TickerTrends data, reported downloads down 8.1% week over week and daily user additions down 62.4% (from about 198,000 a day in mid-September to about 74,000), even as total daily users hit a new high of about 2.73 million on October 6.9 These are third-party estimates; Meta didn’t comment. Sensor Tower data reported by Yahoo Finance found strong early retention (73% return on day one) but faster drop-off than ChatGPT after about a week.8

Revenue forecasts

ReportedDeutsche Bank’s Benjamin Black sees Muse reaching up to 8% of Meta’s revenue by 2030, about $36 billion, with a low-end estimate of $2.4 billion.8

ReportedCiti forecasts Muse could bring in more than $27 billion a year by 2030: about $23 billion from transaction-related revenue and about $4.5 billion from subscriptions. Citi called Muse a possible “front door to the internet.”6 Per MetaMeta’s stated plan is to profit “by taking a small fee from transactions,” plus paid plans.7 Meta hasn’t reported any Muse revenue yet.

What these numbers don’t tell you

  • They’re estimates. On September 25, three firms gave three different download totals: 2.3 million (Appfigures), 3.4 million (Sensor Tower) and 4.3 million (Apptopia).4 Apptopia itself notes it can only provide third-party estimates.3
  • Downloads aren’t users. A No. 1 rank shows how fast people are installing the app. It doesn’t show how many keep using it, and nobody has published retention figures for Muse.
  • Meta hasn’t confirmed them. The weekly-user figures come from The Information’s reporting on internal data, not from Meta publicly.5
